Jake Morrill


Rev. Jake Morrill helps people get clear, creative, and courageous, so they can move out in faith with joy to serve a hurting world.

 

Before beginning at Foothills UU Fellowship in August, 2024, Jake served as Lead Minister of the Oak Ridge UU Church for 19 years (2003-2022). He is a former Trustee of the Unitarian Universalist Association and of the Church of the Larger Fellowship. He is Director of the UU Christian Fellowship and a former Chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserve.


In his twenties, Jake co-founded a multi-cultural youth leadership program in Cape Town, South Africa. He has served on the Board of the Race Relations Center of East Tennessee and, in 2016, received the "Community Spirit" award from the Anderson County NAACP.

 

A long-time student of Bowen Family Systems Theory and Faculty at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, Jake presents widely on topics related to emotional maturity and relationship management, especially as applied to organizational leadership. 

 

He holds degrees from the University of Texas, Austin; the Iowa Writers’s Workshop; Harvard Divinity School; and East Tennessee State University. He is licensed as a Marital and Family Therapist.

 

Jake has published five books, including his latest, The Boundaries Workbook, in 2022.

 

For fun, Jake likes to hike, read, and play music. He’s the lead singer of the novelty band, Death Breakfast. Jake and his wife, Molly, live in Oak Ridge, and are the proud parents of two young adult sons.

Office Manager


Cecilia A. Batson


Cecilia is a life-long resident of Blount County, a single mother, and a massive dork. She has spent her working life looking for a place where her assortment of skills and passions would be useful, appreciated, and where she’d feel comfortable. In a surprising turn of events, Cecilia found this by working for FUUF and another progressive church in the area.



Cecilia currently lives with her daughter Sarah, her partner Jessie, their cat Mena, and their dog Korg. Aside from people & critters, their home is filled with a small library of books, fancy gadgets courtesy of Jessie, art provided by Sarah, Funko Pops, and entirely too much pop culture memorabilia.
